ภาษาOnce upon a time, there is a cruel prince who attacks other people to the point that no one wants to be near him. One day, the prince plays in the river even though everyone told him not to, because there is a rain storm and the stream of water is very turbulent but he refused to listen.
When the storm appears, the prince was blown away, but the prince got a hold of a timber. Beside the prince, there are also a snake, a mouse and a red-breasted parakeet on that timber. The timber finally floated to hermit’s home.
The hermit helps all of them from the river, and he starts a campfire for the three animals to warm themselves up first because they look smaller and weaker than the prince. The prince is very upset and thinks this hermit thinks these animals are more important than him. If there is a chance in the future, he will take revenge on this hermit.
After a few days, the storm is gone.
The four of them stay with the hermit until they recover before they say goodbye, but before they leave the snake says “I have many wealths hide beside the shore. If you want to have them, I would give them to you”.
“I also have my own wealths hidden. When you need them just come to find me”, the mouse says.
The red-breasted parakeet says “I do not have any wealths beside rice seeds, if you want any of them, I will bring them to you”.
The prince heard what the three animals said to the hermit, then he also jokingly says “If you go to the palace, I will welcome you”.
As time pass, the hermit wants to test the four of them so he goes to visit the snake, mouse and red-breast parakeet. The red-breasted parakeet welcome him well. The snake and the mouse offer him their wealths, while the red-breasted parakeet gives him rice seeds. The hermit said thank you but he did not accept any wealths or rice seeds, instead, he tells them to keep them.
After that, the hermit goes to the city to meet the prince, whom now is the king. When the king sees him, it reminds him of the time the hermit let the three animals sat by the campfire first so he tells his solders to arrest the hermit and parade him around the city to embarrass him,and also hit him at every four intersection. The hermit got hit but he does not ask for help, instead, he says “the timber floats on the river is better than the human”.
The citizens who watch the parade get curious so they ask what hermits’ words mean. The hermit explains and tell them the whole story. After citizens know the truth, they help the hermit and try to harm the king, which lead him to fall from the elephant and die.
From then on, the citizens all agree to let the hermit become their king. The kingdom has become peaceful ever since. Later, the king brings the three animals (snake, mouse, red-breasted parakeet) to the city, and he takes care of them very well, and they happily live together.
Helping immoral people could bring the helper difficulties in the future, but an ungrateful person could meet an unhappy or unpleasantly event like the prince who harms the hermit who helped him before.
