Juniperus oxycedrus L. is distributed in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean basin. In Kosovo, it is a common species
that grows in dry hilly areas on serpentine rock substrate.Several studies have reported the chemical composition of the essential oils of J. oxycedrus originating from different
regions of the world. The results show a variation in the
content and chemical composition not only between populations but also between plant organs. To the best of our knowledge, there are no published studies that address the composition of essential oils obtained from
berries of J. oxycedrus growing in Kosovo. Therefore, the principal aims of our study were to analyse the chemical composition of essential oils obtained from ripe berries of this plant and to assess the natural variation of essential oils between wild
populations of J. oxycedrus growing in Kosovo using a statistical approach with PCA and HCA.
