The knowledge of the amount of sucrose will be very helpful
for diabetic patients to be careful about eating dates. Glucose,
fructose and sucrose are caloric sweeteners. Monosaccharides
(fructose and glucose) are found in minor amounts in fruits and
honey, while sucrose is present in large amounts in beets, sugar
cane and also in date fruits. For many years, it has been observed
that intake of high-sugar may cause adverse health effects.
High-sucrose intake of food leads to the development of obesity,
high blood pressure, diabetes, insulin resistance, fatty liver, and
dyslipidemia [25–28].
