The 2nd fall of Ayutthaya left the country with the power vacuum. Therefore, groups of warlords rivaled to fill the vacuum. The rival groups included:
1. King Taksin, who at that time was ‘”Phraya Tak” (the Governor of Tak); he had organized his force and made his way to the southeast: Chanthaburi and captured it in June 1767.
2. Prince Teppipit, King Boromakot's son; he had set himself up as the ruler of Phimai holding sway over the eastern provinces including Nakhon Ratchasima or Khorat.
3. The Governor of Phitsanulok, proclaimed Nakhon Sawan, but later was defeated by Chao Pra Fang of Sawankaburi 4. A Buddhist monk: Chao Pra Fang of Sawankaburi (now in Uttaradit Province), had made himself a prince, appointing his qualified fellow monks as army commanders. 5. The acting Governor of Nakhon Si Thammarat declared his independence and made himself a prince proclaiming the southern provinces up to Chumphon.
