Thailand- Eastern Sugar to expand on renewable energy
Eastern Sugar Co plans to expand its renewable energy and biofuel sectors through an initial public offering (IPO), in order to tap rising demand, Bangkok Post reports. Executive vice-president said that the company is aiming to expand its biomass and biogas power plants whose feedstock is waste from the sugar production process. "This move is part of the fully integrated system of its sugar business in order to gain higher value from sugar and waste," he adds. The Eastern Sugar group has a crushing capacity of 32,000 tonnes of sugar cane per day. (13th February 2015)
