Close and Signature
21.49 The firm’s reports are signed manually with the member firm’s name. A printed signature is not permissible, except for certain reports filed with a regulatory agency. In addition:
• a complimentary close, such as very truly yours, should not be used
• the phrase “Independent Accountants” may be placed under the firm name when a letterhead is not used, as in certain regulatory reports and reports drafted for inclusion in printed reports
• only an assurance partner has authority to sign the auditor’s report (see Chapter 19)
• the jurisdiction or country of the issuing office and the date of the auditor’s report are shown flush with the left-hand margin below the level of the manual signature as follows
