More information about English language of NESTs
Basically, native teachers are people who know and use English more than non-native teachers. However, in second language teaching, teachers must have detailed knowledge or information about the language they teach in the way it is formed, structured and used. Native speakers know their language, but only for
their daily use as “native teachers may not be aware
of the internal mechanisms operating in the acquisition of a second language, since for native
teachers‟ language acquisition was unconscious” (
Medgyes, 1992, p.347). On the other hand,non-native teachers learned English in detail in that they needed to study the grammar, words, functions, and structures. This makes them better informants than native teachers in second language teaching
