The primary purpose of this study was to examine the effects of
a 12-week supervised exercise program on motivational outcomes
at 5-year follow-up in BCS. To our knowledge, this study is the
longest follow-up to date of a supervised exercise program in any
cancer survivor group. In support of our hypotheses, we found that
BCS in the exercise group reported a significantly higher descriptive
norm at 5-year follow-up. There were small nonsignificant effects
of the supervised exercise intervention on injunctive norm,
instrumental attitude, and perceived behavioral control favoring
the exercise group. We also found small nonsignificant associations
between PA at 5-year follow-up and perceived behavioral control,
instrumental attitude, injunctive norm and descriptive norm.
