It is important to be aware of the presenter's point of view.
-what are his or her views on the topic?
-what arguments are used to support the views?
We should also be aware of any 'hidden' views or assumptions. These are not clearly stated opinions but they underlie what the speaker or writer says. Hear are some examples:
A lecture about how to increase tourism in a developing country.
Assumption: Tourism is beneficial to such countries.
A radio programme about controlling population.
Assumption: The world is overpopulated.
