The reuse of treated wastewater is
essential if we are to successfully produce certain crops, increase
yields and free them from reliance on rainfall, thereby increasing
stability in the long term. In CWs for wastewater treatment, for
example HSSF system, the final quantity of treated water available
for reuse in irrigation is highly dependent upon the water balance
in the system. In this system, the water balance model is highly
simplified compared to traditional herbaceous and arboreal open-
field crop systems. This is because, as the HSSF system is isolated
froma hydraulic point of view, some traditional components, such
as subsurface and surface waters
