It is clear that migration patterns, especially in relation to the seasonal, commuting, and circular migration,
are specific to this area of southern Thailand and differ from patterns in the rest of the country. For Thai people
who want to work overseas, whether they are commuting, seasonal, or circular migrants, there are five ways
Thai workers can go to work in other countries legally by the process of the Department of Employment
Service:
(1) Workers arrange migration by themselves;
(2) They are sent by private recruitment agencies;
(3) They are sent by the Department of Employment Services;
(4) They are sent by employers;
(5) Workers are sent overseas as “Trainees”.
