The HCH content of the seafoods was significantly lower than
the DDT content, even though the use of HCH pesticides in China
is far more frequent than that of DDTs. The lower accumulation
of HCHs in the organisms compared to DDTs can be attributed to
differences between the physicochemical and biochemical characteristics
of HCHs and DDTs. Compared with DDTs, HCHs are more
biodegradable and less lipophilic. Therefore, the accumulation ability
in the organisms is poor. Low accumulation levels of HCHs in
organisms also has been confirmed by other researchers
