DEA has been built on the foundation of linear programming to estimate the relative performance of DMUs in the form of an efficiency score, in which multiple inputs are converted to multiple outputs. In cropping systems, each farm is regarded as a DMU. DEA is generally classified based on its orientation. Input-oriented models try to answer the question that how much input application rate can be reduced without decreasing the product whereas output-oriented models focus on increasing outputs with the same level of inputs (Khoshnevisan et al., 2014b). Since farms have more control over input levels than output levels, an input-oriented approach was used for this study.
