Intervention
Participants in Group 2 (the education-only group) received
an educational handout created by the research team. The
handout consisted of a hard copy of a slide show presentation
and included topics such as an ergonomics overview, laboratory
workstation risk factors (e.g., awkward postures, repetitive
movements, eyestrain), symptoms of repetitive strain
injuries (e.g., pain, discomfort, fatigue), goals of ergonomics
programs (e.g., worker positioning, workstation redesign,
work process modification), and guidelines to follow for
injury prevention (e.g., rest breaks, environmental modification,
worker positioning). This handout was created to provide
participants with the health-related knowledge they
required, thereby addressing the cognitive domain of
learning.
