The main theme of activity-based lodging is the type of activity, either physical or mental, in which guests participate. Examples include golf re- sorts, hunting lodges, music camps, and fishing camps. In addition to the primary activity,a number of other activitiesmay be offered. The Regent Las Vegas (formerlythe Resort at Summerlin) is a 2,000-room resort with a golf course (TPC Canyons), a casino, and numerous five-star restau- rants. Because of its adherence to its primary theme, no one who has been there would think it was anything other than an outstanding golf resort. Most activity-basedfacilities, however, offer additional forms of recreation in an attempt to keep customers (and their money) from leav- ing the resort for any purpose. Many go out of their way to be as self- contained as possible, while others cooperate with neighboring resorts.
