Furthermore, my strength of the MCI personal competence model is building a team. I tend to actively build relations with others and knowing how to deal with team. By contrast, communication is one of my weaknesses. I cannot identify the essential information to my listeners. It seems that, I tend to lack the knowledge of how to express an idea to the team. Also, I lack the ability to use a variety of techniques to promote peoples’ morale and productivities. I have to deal with this weakness by learning more about those techniques which are necessary to become a successful manager.
The essential component of being a successful manager for me is having social skills. My strength in terms of Emotional Intelligence is my social skills. For myself, I think that my social skills will assist me to gain a lot of benefits in relation to group work, also helping my career in the future. Moreover, in an organization, one of the most important determinants is the relationship between the members and the leader. In contrast, I do tend to react negatively to people who are negative towards me. My weakness leads me to be an ineffective manager. I need to improve myself and change my emotional response to be calm.
Although the high score in terms of Self-assessment of Cultural Intelligence is in relation to behaviour (skills), I lack some degree of awareness and understanding in relation to some part of aspect. Additionally, as I have had some experience in a business with cultural differences, I seldom shared my ideas with them due to the language barrier. Because of my pronunciation, they were unable to understand my attitude. Alternatively, I feel comfortable working with cultural differences, which is a significant aspect of working in an international business. Even so, sometimes I feel nervous and under pressure. As a manager in my future career, I need to be more confident and to participate more in international events in order to gain more experience and share more ideas in order to be accepted by others.
