Benchmarking has been in the field of human resource management (HRM). Benchmarking can show the foundation for the successful development of the workforce, the organisation and the community in which the organisation operates. Given the role and importance of human resource management practice in the organisation, it is not surprising to find that benchmarking in this area has become popular. Even though efforts have been made to establish definitive benchmarks for HRM practice, challenges remain in the creation of best practices for human resource management. Using this as a foundation for investigation, the current research considers the current state of benchmarking in human resource management to provide a more integral understanding of the current best practices that have been identified in this area.
