A period of enormous physical activity begins around the age of two years. This is the phase of somersaults and attempts to climb up onto any available object. Now your child will delight in any type of plaything that contributes to this newfound mobility. Unfortunately, however this irresistible urge to move is not without its dangers. It is a good idea to keep a close eye on your toddler during this stage. Set up a play area where he will be visible to you most of the time-maybe in the living room or the kitchen. There are many wonderful play and activity rugs available for this purpose. Your child will also love any kind of little tent (it can even be a large cardboard box where he can play another of this age group's favorite games: hiding.
