A food vehicle was reported for 208 (65%) V. parahaemolyticus
outbreaks, 187 (58%) of which were attributed to a single food
commodity (Table 2). Animal-based foods were the most common
single commodity reported (114 outbreaks, 61%), followed by
mixed foods (35 outbreaks, 19%), and other foods (31 outbreaks,
17%). In the category of animal-based foods, meats and aquatic
products had a much higher chance of contamination.
