Remote controls and instrumentation to be provided for the propulsion plant fulfilling relevant Class requirements for ships operating with unmanned engine room.
Sufficient local controls and instrumentation shall be provided to enable ship to reach port safely in the event of a major catastrophe(eg. Fire in the control station) or in the event of a breakdown of any remotely or automatically controlled system.
Instruments, sensors and control equipment shall be of simple, robust and standardized design for easy repair to replacement by ship’s staff. In principle all sensors related to temperature and pressure measurements shall be of the analogue type.
Transmitter to be used in order to avoid sensing lines carrying fuel oil, steam, or water being led onto the bridge room.
The number of monitoring/alarm points to be in accordance to Class and authorities’ requirement plus 30 spare channels.
Instrumentation in hazardous areas to fulfill relevant Class requirement.
Control of main engines and the propulsion system can be done either from the bridge or locally. Start and stop of main engines and generators can be controlled from bridge console. Winch to be controlled locally and from the bridge.
Thruster, Hydraulic power for winch can be started from the bridge.
Fire pump to be started from the bridge.
All alarm and indication lights will have a lamp test function.
For all stand by functions a selector switch should be installed to enable selection of either pump or compressor as standby. Alternatively the system, where the start of one pump automatically puts the other in standby, may be used.
Provision for testing and checking set points is to be included.
All consoles to have illumination internally for maintenance and repair purpose.
