Conclusion
The current article described student feedback on an innovative peer mentorship simulation learning approach where students have the opportunity to practice communication skills in a safe environment. The peer mentorship strategy of the participating university is a low-cost, effective simulation experience that has received positive feedback form participants. Five themes arose form student feedback on the videorecording communication assignment, which is part of this peer mentorship approach. Themes included impact of seeing oneself, significance of practicing, opportunity for self-evaluation, value of getting below the surface, and power of transforming insight to goal setting. The PMHW faculty authors of the current article support using nursing TAs in SP simulations as an effective leaning strategy model for improving essential communication and interpersonal relationship skills in the PMHN curriculum.
