Accuracy of the determination of α-emitting nuclides activity concentrations in environmental samples depends heavily on the analyst's ability to prepare and mount the analyte in as pure a form as possible, free of any gravimetric or radiometric interferences which could lead to complications in the interpretation of the acquired α spectra, degradation of the spectral resolution and reduced overall sensitivity.
