HPLC analysis of the various extracts of A. vasica indicated the
presence of two peaks having retention times of 5.30 and 6.030
.
The peak at 5.30 corresponded with the isolated compound V*
and the peak at 6.030 was comparable to an authentic sample of
vasicine. The vasicine and V* contents were calculated from the
calibration curve of vasicine and expressed as % dry weight.
