This experiment was conducted in a greenhouse made by
polyethylene. A completely randomized design was used that
included five treatments and five replications. The treatments consisted
of regular watering (control) or no watering for 30, 60, 90
or 120 days before harvest. The water consumption of cassumunar
ginger was estimated from the evapotranspiration of containerized
plants initially watered to field capacity. The evapotranspiration of
each container was determined by daily monitoring of weight loss
(Southwick and Davenport, 1986), where a 1 g decrease in weight
equaled 1mL of water loss. The consumptive water loss was calculated
on the 75th day after planting. The water consumption of
cassumunar ginger was 500 mL/pot/day in this experiment.
