After preparation, sample rice containing rice weevils
and their eggs was put into a plastic package
(widthlength ¼120 mm160 mm) made from polyethylene with thickness 0.7 mm; the package was then sealed.
The sealed packages were inserted into the column of medium rice, which was conveyed through the microwave
oven. Length, width of medium rice and speed of belt were controlled to keep the rice flow (Q) at 400–1200 kg/h. Belt
speed and microwave oven power were monitored for change in the energy consumption (dh), treatment time (t)
and rice flow to investigate the effects of these factors on the mortality of rice weevils.
