Soft Skills Research
According to numerous research studies, employees’ soft skills (or lack thereof) can affect a firm’s bottom line.
•In a survey conducted at the American Society of Training & Development (ASTD) 2012 conference by Emergenetics International, communication deficiencies were the most cited organizational challenge. 59% of respondents said communication was a challenge for teams.
Furthermore, 57% of respondents said that their organization’s communication was neither effective nor ineffective at meeting objectives. Organizations are not utilizing the power of organizational communication to its full potential. They are missing out on a powerful source of competitive advantage in the process.
In fact, the rest of the data tells that story—only 22% indicated that communication was an Effective tool to help further business objectives. Only 3% of respondents said that their communication was Very Effective at meeting these goals. Even worse, 18% of respondents said that communication was so Ineffective that it actually had a negative effect on meeting business goals. Click here for more information about the survey.
