17.1 PROCESSING OF TRADITIONAL CERAMICS
In this section we discuss the production technology used to make traditional ceramic
products such as pottery, stoneware and other dinnerware, bricks, tile, and ceramic refractories.
Bonded grinding wheels are also produced by the same basic methods. What
these products have in common is that their raw materials consist primarily of silicate
ceramics—clays. The processing sequence for most of the traditional ceramics consists of
the steps depicted in Figure 17.1.
