The Phanom Rung Festival is held each year to provide an opportunity for visitors to pay homage to the sanctuary on this special occasion. This year, a colorful light and sound show will be organized on April 2 and 3. Visitors get to enjoy the local food specialties, folk music and dances, and a Buri Ram products fair at the Phanom Rung Historical Park, which is open daily, from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The hilltop Hindu shrine of Phanom Rung, also referred to as Prasat Phanom Rung, is Buri Ram’s most famous attraction. It is believed to have been constructed between the 10th and 13th centuries as a shrine of worship for the god Shiva.
