Coagulation–flocculation is one of the most effective and economical processes for treatment of wastewater containing dye (Solankiet al., 2013). One of the most important advantages of decolorization with this method is the low production of toxic by-productsdue to lack of dye decomposition. Although conventional chemical-based coagulants such as alu-minum and iron (III) salts are effective in wastewater clarification,there are several drawbacks associated with their usage suchas ineffectiveness in low-temperature, adverse effects on humanhealth, production of large sludge volumes and change in pH ofthe treated water
