Root colonization abilities of the five isolates tested (# 14,
18, 21, 27and30) showed thatroots, andsoil particles attached
to roots of 21-day-old bean seedlings were colonized to
different degrees by the isolates (Tables 2 and 3). Population
densities also showed that the isolates were found in the
rhizosphere at all depths of the roots, but population densities
were significantly (P < 0.05) greater in the first 8 cm of the root
system compared to other root depths (Table 3). All five
isolates colonized some roots to 14 cm depth, but isolate # 18
colonized with a higher frequency (Tables 2 and 3).
