It is also worth pointing out that the results of the present
research demonstrate that the seedcoat of O. carpinifolia seeds
was permeable to GA3 and did not mechanically restrict
embryo growth; therefore, the seeds did not exhibit physical
dormancy. As far as O. virginiana species is concerned, Leak
and Bonner (2008) maintain that the specific seeds, apart from
internal dormancy, have also got a hard seedcoat. Thus, based
on the dormancy breaking requirements, the O. carpinifolia
seeds exhibited intermediate physiological dormancy
