CONCLUSIONS
A mathematical model was developed to analyze the performance of a single stage ammonia–water absorption refrigeration chiller with complete condensation when some input design parameters are varied. The actual results were found to lie between 70% and 80% of the calculated values. Comparisons between actual and calculated values show that heat loss from the generator have a strong effect on the
system performance, and the cooling capacity is also limited by the evaporator or absorber mass transfer performance. The simple mathematical model has accurately predicted absorption system efficiency. The present formulation could be further enhanced when more detailed design information is available so that identifying and quantifying performance degradation and the components responsible for it.
