During his career abroad, he has published several papers related to plant developmental biology in high-impact journals. He has joined Mahidol University since 2011 and started exploring the field of aquaculture biotechnology and shrimp diseases.
Since the outbreak of early mortality syndrome (EMS) in 2012, the current research has focused on identifying the variation in bacterial agents causing EMS in shrimp. In collaboration with private companies, we are using laboratory infection model of EMS to test whether the products will have a potential to be used as prophylactic or therapeutic treatment prior going for field trials. We are also working on identification of lethal toxin(s) obtained from EMS bacteria. Understanding of the toxin(s) would lead us to improve the detection system as well as testing for potential toxin absorber.
