In experiments using peeled fruit the peel from one cheek was
removed with a potato peeler prior to treatment. This gave five samples referred
to as: control (unpeeled fruit), control PPP (peeled plus peel: the unpeeled cheek
of a half-peeled fruit), control PMP (peeled minus peel: the peeled cheek of a
half-peeled fruit), acetaldehyde PPP (peeled plus peel: the unpeeled cheek of an
acetaldehyde treated half-peeled fruit) and acetaldehyde PMP (peeled minus peel:
the peeled cheek of an acetaldehyde treated half-peeled fruit).
