“Live” case study workshops
Rationale: the workshops were developed as a form of experiential learning and included in the core ethics, responsibility and sustainability module taken by all MBA students. The aims were to make students aware of the ethical, social and environmental dimensions of the business-making process through discussing “live” case studies with business practitioners; legitimise the ethical components of managerial decision making; provide conceptual frameworks for the analysis of the ethical components; aid the individual to become confident in the use of such frameworks and help students apply these ethical analyses in day-to-day business decisions. During the workshop, business professionals prepared and facilitated “real life” case studies, drawn from their own experiences, highlighting conceivable business dilemmas and decisions faced on a regular basis. Students were required to take on the roles of managers and board members facing the particular situations, take decisions and justify the outcomes to the business professionals.
