In Southeast Asia, most governments have adopted a
policy push for on-going intergeneration support for
the elderly in addition to state-based support. Yet
during 2000 and 2050, the support ratio for the elderly
is expected to decline from 15.3 to 4.2 in Malaysia from
11.5 to 3.6 in Vietnam, and from 16.7 to 4.8 in
Indonesia.
