Moisture regimes in soil will affect the growth of sweet potato
for the growth period from establishment of cuttings to the harvest.
Rao and Li (2003) reviewed the effects of flooding on growth of some field crops including sweet potato and mentioned mainly
injurious effects of waterlogging on sweet potato tuberous roots.
There are not so many literatures concerning on the effects of the
excess moisture content in soil on the growth performance of sweet
potato. The yield of the tuberous roots of sweet potato decreased in
the case of the excess supply of irrigation water (Thompson et al.,
1992). However the effect of the water table depth on the yield of
sweet potato was not clear in the field (Ghuman and Lal, 1983).
