One morning, without feeling, I slipped a rope around the cat’s neck and hung it from a limb of a tree outside my bedroom.
I hung the cat tears strearring from my eyes, and with a bitter feeling of remorse in my heart.
I hung that cat because I felt it had given me no reason to hurt it.
Lastly, I hung the cat because I knew I was committing a sin – a deadly sin that would jeopardize my soul and place it beyond even the reach of the infinite mercy of the most merciful and most terrible God.
