Despite political turmoil, arrivals break new record again
Asian tourists especially from China pushed total arrivals to a new peak level in 2013. Anti-government protesters scared some tourists enough to call off inbound trips during the peak tourism season from November 2013 to February 2014. Although there is no solution to the Thai political situation, as long as the demonstrations are under control and no-one is physically harmed, then arrivals are expected to continue a positive trend. In addition, international tourists can avoid the protesters in Bangkok by flying direct to Phuket or Chiang Mai instead or fly to Suvarnabhumi airport and rent a car to Pattaya to enjoy the entertainment life and beaches.
