In order to better understand the effect of ER on the gasification temperature, fifth order polynomial equations were generatedbased on the temperature profiles. The average temperature (Tave) was also calculated by using these equations. The average gasification temperature for mesquite and juniper sample decreased with the rise of the ER (Fig. 9). Juniper had a higher average temperature than mesquite at a fixed ER because of its higher HHV. For juniper, the average temperature was 782 C when ER was 2.7 and dropped to 658 C when ER increased to 4.2. Lowest Tave for mesquite occurred at ER 3.7 and did not decrease further at higher ER.
