While much of the waste generated
in our stores is sent to our warehouses
and recycled from there, we
want to make sure that the remaining
waste is also handled in the best
possible way. We are focusing on our
largest brand’s stores, H&M, and the
most common types of waste, namely
cardboard, plastic and paper. Much
depends on existing recycling systems
in the community or the building
where we rent space, for example.
While these can pose serious challenges
locally, over the last year we
further increased the share of stores
that have recycling systems for these
waste types in place to 58%* (2013:
56%). Our aim is to further increase
this share and ultimately reach 100%.
