Individual / Case Underwriting
Oversee the case underwriting activity, including the evaluation of individual risk quality, and determine appropriate terms and conditions on which to accept new and renewal business.
Underwriting Governance & Business Rules
Ensure full compliance in respect of the underwriting relationship with local insurance (fronting) partners, local regulators, and the Allianz Global Assistance Underwriting and Reserving Guidelines and all associated processes.
Policy and Contract Wording
Ensure in product delivery include concise and consistent definitions that accurately reflect the underwriting intention, meet Group minimum standards, and fully comply with applicable regulations and laws.
Product Management & Pricing
Construct new products in conjunction with Executive team and the company’s defined strategy.
Determine the optimum cost of risk acceptance plus execution of technical price given the organization’s different distribution channels.
Gather data on competitor pricing in all portfolio areas, to ensure technical rates are complemented with market rates as required.
Administer the pipeline of product and tariff change requests.
Gather data on best practices and determine optimal pricing strategy for the underwriting portfolio.
Portfolio Monitoring and Risk Analysis
Define and adhere to a risk appetite that aligns with Group standards a local business strategy.
Deliver an underwriting framework for portfolio performance monitoring, so that financial targets are met.
Develop and own underwriting remediation plans for areas of the portfolio that underperform or destroy value for the company.
Make recommendations on preferred risk segments, in order to optimize growth and profit within existing portfolios.
Perform standard monitoring of any large exposures or risk accumulations, along with recommendations for mitigation.
Research and Development of New Products
Identify, with stakeholders in the business, growth opportunities linked to delivery of new and superior products, and participate in the development process.
Key requirements:
Minimum Requirements
Logical thinking and plain explanation skills
Experience in managing a team
Sufficient knowledge and experience (minimum 5 - 7 years) in the non-Life insurance sector, specifically in underwriting and/or actuarial service roles, along with an appropriate level of management and administrative experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Practical use of statistical tools and/or finance techniques
Business-level English proficiency
Desirable Capability
Contract/policy writing skills in Thai
Marketing, planning or product development experience
Well-developed public speaking and presentation skills
Basic knowledge on Thailand corporate and financial laws and regulations
