The authors showed that proteins
together with mannose, galactose, and uronic acid constitute a
large part (50–60%) of the cell wall of F. oxysporum. Thus, the
expression and secretion of a-1,2-mannosidase by T. harzianum
during mycoparasitism may contribute to the release of soluble
carbohydrates and favoring the action of proteases.
In conclusion, our results suggest that the action of CWDEs
expressed by T. harzianum causes the release of molecules from
the cell wall of F. oxysporum that are essential for a-1,2-
mannosidase induction. However, the molecules involved in the
induction of a-1,2-mannosidase in T. harzianum need to be identi-
fied and characterized.
