In Thailand since the launch in July 2012, we have grown to more than 1.2 million users and your role, as the Campaign Director, is to build on the success and elevate change.org towards becoming the platform of choice for people anywhere in Thailand to create the change they want to see.
Job Description and Duties
As the Campaign Director, you will be the face of Change.org in Thailand leading a small but passionate team to help thousands of people start and run their own individual campaigns across dozens of issues throughout the country. You are enthusiastic; someone who's not afraid to get stuck-in and active, knowing that your work and dedication will inspire people with the belief that positive change is possible. Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Identifying promising campaigns started by individuals on local or regional issues. You’ll work with your team to help these campaigns win by providing strategic advice on everything from social media tactics, media outreach to event planning and execution.
Connect and work with social good networks, companies, organizations and other potential partners to help them access the full potential of change.org for their campaigns.
Come up with creative, exciting, and impactful campaign ideas to engage with the expanding new user base.
Establishing and maintaining deep partnerships with leading civil society organizations - local, national, and global in scope. You’ll be a trusted advisor and useful ally, helping large and small organizations run campaigns on Change.org.
Recruiting, training and managing a team of field organizers and campaigners as Change.org grows in Thailand.
Collaborating with a global team of campaigners to help shape the direction of Change.org internationally.
The ideal candidate will have the following core competencies:
A deep understanding of campaigning and a commitment to our mission of empowering people to win campaigns on the critical issues of our times. You believe people can stop injustice and change the world and you’ve shown it by your past involvement in social change work.
Exceptional writing skills in Thai, able to craft compelling and persuasive written communication for a general audience.
Fluent in both written and spoken English, to enable effective participation in the Change.org global team.
You enjoy working in an online environment, using social media and collaborating using online tools.
Strong leadership and persuasiveness skills. You’ll be able to inspire people to understand the possibilities of people-powered change.
The ability to manage a small team, bringing out the best in them.
Impact-driven. You’ll work outside your comfort zone to do what it takes to win campaigns.
A track record of good judgment. You’re able to make sound decisions in fast-moving situations.
Strong rapport-building and relationship skills. You can effectively build and maintain partnerships and be a trusted ally amongst social change campaigners in Thailand.
Initiative and a can-do attitude across a variety of campaign issue areas.
Able to identify and seize opportunities quickly. Online campaigning is very moment-driven, so you’ll be comfortable working in an agile and fast-paced environment.
High-level strategic thinker, with a strong grasp of politics and power. You understand the political and corporate pressure points in Thailand and are across current social justice, economic and environmental issues.
Change.org is an exceptionally fast-paced and collaborative work environment. Your co-workers are high-impact, low-ego, and have a deep respect for our members. Normally, Campaigns Directors will have relevant experience in advocacy, media or government – but if you make up for lack of experience with passion and a willingness to learn quickly, you should still apply.
We’re an equal opportunity employer, which means we strongly encourage any interested parties to apply – we don’t discriminate on the basis of age, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or physical disability.
Based in Bangkok, pay and benefits are very competitive.
We will read every application and follow up directly if interested. Please be honest and thoughtful in your answers, and detail why you would be particularly well suited to the role in a short cover letter.
