In recent years, bioflocculants have aroused the
interest of many environmental researchers because of
their biodegradability and the harmlessness of their
degradative intermediates [4] compared to synthetic
flocculant like polyacrylamide whose degradative
intermediate, acrylamide has been implicated in can
cer [5]. Screening new microorganisms for biofloccu
lant with high flocculating activity has become a sub
ject of intensive investigations globally.
