7. Conclusion
This study has demonstrated that the rods could recover a range of fibre types from commonly encountered substrates at rates comparable to the current recovery methods in use for non-textile items. However, the reduction in the time taken to recover fibres from items using the rods compared to using forceps makes it efficient and cost effective in comparison to traditional methods when taping is not an option. In conclusion, the rods provide a useful addition to the fibre recovery methods available for non-textile items in the laboratory.
