Blind Justice is a short film based on a full-length feature script, which in-turn was derived from the classic Greek play, Sophocles' Oedipus Rex. The film uses F. Storr's century old English translation of the original Greek text, which dates to 430 BCE, and reimagines it in a contemporary setting. In addition, it explores the process of adaptation from the medium of Theatre into Film. While maintaining the essence of the original story and the functional integrity of the main characters, the film reduces the play length from over 100 pages to 19 in screenplay form. The process of adaptation involved maintaining a balance between infusing the material with a contemporary visual style and retaining the essence of the original text that has stood the test of time. The result bolsters not only the importance of storytelling, but also the methods and technological mediums through which cultures share their history.
