6. Learn from the feedback. There’s always something to learn from every feedback. Ask yourself: What have I learned about myself? What have I learned about others? How can I improve? What can I do differently from now on? Your lesson can either be about (i) the feedback (ii) how you dealt with the feedback (iii) or both. Consult with Au Pair International if you need guidance or direction, but always try and solve the problem with your family first. You don’t want to make your family feel like you are going behind their backs when discussing problems with the agency when the host family wasn’t even aware of it.
Sometimes it can help to put some distance between you and the host family. Ask, for example, another Au Pair if you can stay with her for a weekend.
