Short Falls Efficacy Scale—International Version
Falls self-efficacy was measured using the 7-item Short
(Falls Efficacy Scale—International Version) FES-I.13 The
Short FES-I uses a 4-point Likert scale that ranges from 1
(not at all concerned) to 4 (very concerned) to score the
level of concern regarding the possibility of falling when
performing certain activities of daily living (e.g., taking a
bath or shower). Total scores range from 7 (no concern
about falling) to 28 (severe concern about falling). The
FES-I has been shown to have excellent validity and reliability
(Cronbach a = 0.92).13,14
