Using purposive sampling methods, I selected 13 female EPZ workers at Katunayake. This sampling strategy guides the selection of informants who are relevant to the con-ceptual framework and the research questions addressed by the research (Curtis et al. 2000). Each of the cases presented here illustrates the diversity among female EPZ workers in terms of their sense of place and self-identity. Female EPZ workers with different characteristics in terms of age, education, length of employment, and participation in organizational activities were selected to give their accounts of lived experiences at home, in their home village and in the EPZ area.
